The European Citizen Award for 2017 was bestowed to the non-governmental organisations Praksis, Boroume and to Ekaterini Panagopoulou.
The relevant committee convened on Wednesday in Brussels and examined the candidancies tabled by each EU member state national committee.
Greece was eligible for two prizes but following europarliament vice president Dimitris Papadimoulis’ proposal, the committee exceptionally agreed to give a third award to “Boroume”.
The European Citizen Award is an institution established by the European Parliament in 2008. Groups, citizens or organisations that have shown exceptional commitment in the promotion of better mutual understanding between the citizens of the EU member states are candidates for the award.
