Culture minister discusses Parthenon Marbles with top London barristers

"The issue of the reunification of the Parthenon Marbles is a leading topic, which has occupied Greece for many years," Culture Minister Constantinos Tassoulas said on Tuesday, after a meeting with three distinguished barristers from the London-based legal firm Doughty Street Chambers - Amal Alamuddin-Clooney, Geoffrey Robertson QC and Norman Palmer QC. Also present was archaeologist and president of the International Association for the Reunification of the Parthenon Marbles David Hill.

Amphipolis has an international appeal

The ancient site of Amphipolis, in northern Greece, where ongoing excavations unearthed a massive tomb dating from the era of Alexander the Great, has an international appeal, the director of the Acropolis Museum said on Monday.

"I only listen to the head of the excavation works of the Amphipolis and her findings," Prime Minister Antonis Samaras said on Monday during an event for the repatriation of a 12th century manuscript that was stolen in 1960 from the Holy Monastery of Dionyssiou on Mount Athos and was acquired by the J. Paul Getty Museum in California.
