A Public Power Corporation (PPC) board council meeting formally approved the acquisition of EDS, an electricity energy trading and supply company in the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, for 4.8 million euros.
In an announcement, PPC said: “this acquisition is part of a strategy to expand PPC’s business activities abroad and particularly in the Balkans where it seeks to become a leading power ahead of an expected unification of energy markets in the European Union”.
EDS Group is a dynamically emerging company in the electricity energy sector in FYROM. It was founded in 2012 and has subsidiaries in Serbia, Slovakia and Kosovo. It is a member of the Hungarian Electricity Energy Exchange (HUPX) and has trading licenses in Serbia, Kosovo, Croatia, Bulgaria and Hungary. Its customer portfolio includes 40 pct of companies with a workforce of more than 50 workers offering electricity power of 320 MW.
